- Assignment: Once you express interest, you will be assigned an opportunity and work directly with an Opportunity Coordinator or Section Leadership Team.
- Communication: Expect email notifications from the Volunteer Hub and personal outreach from Volunteer Coordinators.
- Leadership Role: You can only hold one leadership role at a time but can participate in multiple non-leadership opportunities.
2. What is the process for completing a volunteer opportunity?

- Explore Section Opportunities or immediate needs on the homepage.
- Visit the Recommended Opportunities page.
- Use filters on the Main Search Page to refine results by date, opportunity type, Section, interests, keywords, location, or distance.
7. What is the difference between Statewide and Section-specific opportunities?
- Statewide Opportunities:
- Require specific expertise and are open to all CASBO members.
- Involve collaboration with CASBO staff and departments.
- Offer flexibility with virtual and remote options.
- Section-specific Opportunities:
- Managed at the region level and vary in time commitment.
- Include support from designated CASBO staff.
8. How does the Opportunity Match (Recommendation Engine) work?
- Opportunities are matched based on your profile fields:
- Activity Type, Area of Responsibility, and Role.
- Matches receive a score, with higher scores indicating better alignment.
- You can view up to six matches (three Statewide and three Section-specific).
- Regularly check the Recommended Opportunities page for updates.
9. How can I learn more about a specific opportunity?
- Review the opportunity description, including:
- Name, description, requirements, desired skills, deliverables, and selection process.
- If interested, click “Express Interest” or “Sign-up.”
- Complete and fulfill any requirements listed on the Opportunity Description.
10. What is the Volunteer Rewards Store, and how do volunteers earn points?
- Access the store via your CASBO Member Profile: https://my.casbo.org/s/store.
- Sort rewards by point value or name and redeem with as little as 5 points.
- Points are awarded for opportunities starting on or after January 1, 2024.
- Volunteers earn points upon completing a volunteer opportunity or leadership role.
- For roles lasting more than one year, points are accrued at the end of each service year.
- Rewards are shipped monthly, so ensure your address is up to date.
